Olympic Boxing Scandal
Most boxing fans do not blink when the word scandal is mentioned surrounding a critical bout. One of Olympic boxing’s most scandalous matches was when Roy Jones Jr. faced Korea’s Park Si-hun in the 1988 Summer Olympics. The 88’ Olympics took place in Seoul, Korea, which were only the second summer games to be hosted in an Asian country. 159 nations were represented and 8391 athletes attended. There were 441 boxers that participated in these games from 106 countries. Although Cuba boycotted the 1988 Olympics, it was rumored that Korea would dominate the podium.
