He brings a positive energy to his classes and always wears a smile. Here are some details about this fight night and hope that if you want to support him you can purchase tickets at the front desk. POW! Gym is looking forward to hanging out with our west loop muay thai fans on August 25th at the Sears Center.

Jimmy Do, POW! Gym Muay Thai Coach

Jimmy Do, Chicago Muay Thai Coach has a 6-6 record with 2 K.O. He will be fighting on this international kickboxing card that does not allow elbows, only permit 5 seconds in the clinch and no sweeps or dumps.

Jimmy began his martial arts training at the age of 5 after his first encounter with a school bully. His father, a Judo black belt, inspired him. Jimmy and his brothers started training in Tae Kwon Do in 1991. The Do brothers both won many city forms and sparring titles, quickly earning black belts.  Jimmy became an assistant instructor within 3 years. In college, Jimmy gained 50 lbs and realized he needed a healthy lifestyle change.  He started training Muay Thai and Kickboxing with Ryan Blackorby in 2007. He moved to Chicago in 2010 for culinary school and slowly lost the weight after immersing himself into nutrition and cooking healthy. Jimmy returned to the Martial Arts after a chance encounter with Robbie Cole. He met Robbie Cole through mutual friends and began competing in Muay Thai in 2012 as part of RCMT. After 3 tournaments, 9 fights, and one title fight Jimmy started working as a personal trainer and group fitness instructor in late 2014. He focuses on blending strength training, mobility, and flexibility in classes and having been out of shape for many years, is empathetic with clients with the same struggle. Jimmy is also dedicated to teaching children and is a youth and birthday party instructor.
