Spring Youth Combat Classes- Descriptions


Youth Boxing Level 1 classes are FUN FOR EVERYONE - from "First-Timer's” to more experienced youth boxers. This class is required for all ages, regardless of their experience level.  This class will focus on technical boxing skill sets.  Class will utilize mitts only for more experienced students and focus on technical drills and bag work.You can expect a wide range of performance, conditioning and fitness training drills.

Gear Needed: Boxing Gloves and Hand Wraps

Contact Level: This is a No Contact class.

Code of Conduct:  If students are disruptive or unable to follow the class format they will be asked to leave class and sit out.  It is important that parents understand that this class is focused on developing a child’s boxing skills safely.  In order for everyone to grow, all students must be focused and respectful of others.  Kids are not allowed to spar, hit or wrestle with one another anyone inside of POW. If a child is consistently removed from class, they may not be allowed to return to a future boxing class.
 
Student will not be permitted to enter more than 5 minute late.  Parents and children are responsible for wrapping their hands before class. Please teach or learn how to wrap your child’s hands.  The front desk can teach you.
 
Youth Boxing Level 2 is centered around partner drills that incorporate mitts, bags, footwork and defensive exchanges.  These drills are performed AT A CONTROLLED PACE. The foundation work learned in Level 1 classes are built upon in this class.  This class allows students to start putting footwork, defenses and strikes together.  

Gear Needed: POW! Uniform Shirt, Boxing Gloves, Mouthpiece and Hand Wraps (all participants MUST know how to wraps their own hands)
Contact Level: This is a Semi- Contact class.  It incorporates controlled, partner drills.  No live sparring is permitted.
Code of Conduct:  If students are disruptive or unable to follow the class format they will be asked to leave class.  It is important that parents understand that this class is a progression from Boxing Level 1.  Disruptive or disrespectful behavior will not be tolerated and children that can not safely participate in this class will not be allowed to return.
Student will not be permitted to enter more than 5 minute late.  
 

Youth Muay Thai Level 1 Fundamentals is an all-level class always featuring the most important muay thai techniques.This is the perfect class for a "First-Timer."  This class is required for all levels of youth muay thai students because it will focus on technical skill sets. It will incorporate drills and combinations that anchor the sport of muay thai. New students will have a chance to learn the basics on bags. You can expect a wide range of performance, conditioning and fitness training drills. Classes will also include active dynamic warm ups.

Gear Needed:  Boxing Gloves and Hand Wraps 

Contact Level: This is a No Contact class.

Code of Conduct:  If students are disruptive or unable to follow the class format they will be asked to leave class.  Disruptive or disrespectful behavior will not be tolerated and children that can not safely participate in this class will not be allowed to return.

Youth Muay Thai Level 2   This is level 1 & 2 class. It will feature the most important muay thai techniques.This is the perfect class for a "First-Timer" and offers are regular students to opportunity to transition to Level 2 drills. Level 2 drills require that students have their shin guards.  No level 2 drill be allowed without shin guards. 
 
It will incorporate drills and combinations that anchor the sport of muay thai. New students will have a chance to learn the basics on bags and perform some pad work. More experienced students are expected to be able to hold pads and follow directions for controlled, choreographed partner drills. This exchange of combinations between partners  offer the opportunity to practice distance, set-ups, accuracy, control and defense.

Required equipment: Mouthpiece is suggested (level 2), Shin Guards, Boxing Gloves and Hand Wraps

Level 2 students - This class is semi-contact. Students will use techniques on each other during class, but in sequences given by the coach. This is all choreographed and done with absolute control and safety. This is NOT a live sparring class.
